Transfer of Power

As a first step toward retirement, there must be a transfer of power.  The following is a press release we sent out today to inform all of our CPA clients of my pending retirement from the firm.

GREENVILLE, SC – The CPA firm formerly known as H. Marcus Blumer, CPA, PC is changing its name on November 1, 2007 to BLUMER & ASSOCIATES, CPAs, PC. This change comes on the 10 year anniversary of the firm, founded by H. Marcus Blumer, CPA (Marc) of Greenville, SC. Upon the announcement of these firm changes, Jason M. Blumer, CFE, CPA is taking on the officer role as President and Managing Shareholder of the firm.  H. Marcus Blumer, CPA (Marc), the original founder of the firm, is announcing his intentions to retire before the end of 2008. As reported by Marc Blumer, “Since starting the firm in 1997, my son and I have always had the goal of working together.  Since Jason has worked in some larger companies and larger CPA firms throughout North Carolina and South Carolina, he really has the skills and abilities to take the firm to newer heights in the consulting efforts that he is leading. His desires to take the helm as leader of the firm have allowed me to step down my efforts in management and focus on other goals and desires I have during retirement.” For a few years, Marc Blumer will still offer his assistance to the firm during their busy tax seasons.

As stated by Jason M. Blumer, the new President of BLUMER & ASSOCIATES, CPAs, PC, “My passion is getting into the nitty gritty of the operations of each business we consult with. We provide all traditional CPA firm services like tax preparation and planning, accounting and payroll, and we do it well.  But we really add value to our clients when we become coaches to the owners, tactfully guiding them where they are lacking and taking them out of the details of their companies and showing them the future. Sometimes we ask our clients to wade into deep waters with us (of tax, accounting, business, and operational issues), but feel the knowledge they gain provides value for the future and enhances their operational skills, thus making their businesses more valuable and profitable. I often tell people, ‘We’re not your Daddy’s CPA firm’. It’s a joke, but it points to our progressive nature as a firm and our abilities to go beyond traditional accounting.

Honestly, Jason has been running the store for over a year but now it is official.

~Marc
